Install the Desktop Version

The desktop client is downloaded from the operator's own site and exists for Windows and for macOS. If you prefer not to install anything, the web platform offers the same access from the browser.

Windows 7 and macOS 12.0 are minimums, not recommendations. It helps to understand why two routes exist for Android. The Google Play build asks for Android 7.0 or later and the store takes care of the signing, the updates and the compatibility. The APK, at the same 74 MB, lowers the requirement to Android 5.1 and is therefore useful on older phones, in exchange for leaving the management in your hands.

1. Open the operator's site by typing the address yourself and find the download menu.
2. Select the Android option that corresponds to the direct install package.
3. When downloading, check that the file weighs around the 74 MB stated by the operator.
4. Grant your browser the one-off permission to install apps from that source, when Android asks for it.
5. Run the file, look at the permissions screen and accept only what corresponds to a trading app.
6. Withdraw that install permission from the system settings once the installation is finished.

Grant install permissions with care

Android demands an explicit authorisation to install outside the store, and that barrier exists for a reason. Grant it only to the browser or the file manager you are using at that moment, and switch it off afterwards. A trading app needs a connection, notifications and, during verification, the camera and storage to upload documents; it does not need contacts, messages or permanent location.

Keep the APK updated

This is the most important practical difference against Google Play: a manual install does not update itself. You will have to go back to the operator's menu from time to time and repeat the download so as not to stay on an old version, which is where compatibility faults and already-fixed vulnerabilities tend to show up. Take advantage of the large screen

• More visible context. You see a much longer stretch of the price without zooming constantly.
